Digging Into Michigan's Past
4th Graders from Michigan's Hamilton Community Schools are studying the ancient people and mammals that roamed our state during the Ice Age. After some research, the classes turned to Hillsdale College's Dr. Anthony Swinehart, who recently led the investigation and un-Earthing of a pre-historic mastodon near the south-central Michigan campus. This weblog serves as a collaborative tool between the 4th graders and the Hillsdale Biology Dept. Come learn with us!

I would estimate that the mastodon was between 15 and 20 years old at the time of its death.
